To commemorate the 50th anniversary of José Ortega y Gasset's death, the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, and the Comunidad de Madrid, in collaboration with the José Ortega y Gasset Foundation and the Residencia de Estudiantes, organized this exhibition as a tribute to this key figure in contemporary philosophy.
The exhibition provided an excellent opportunity to undertake a comprehensive assessment of his work, as well as his leadership role among several generations of intellectuals of the Silver Age of Spanish culture.
The exhibition, with José Lasaga Medina as curator and Fernando Huici as art consultant, followed Ortega's career through a selection of documents and art works. It was divided into four chronological sections, with original images, documents, and testimonies from Ortega himself and other members of the cultural milieu of the first third of the 20th century.
