This exhibition has been organized by the Sociedad Estatal de Commemoraciones Culturales (SECC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, and by the Trustees of the Alhambra and the Generalife. Luis Muñoz, a poet from Granada, is the curator.

The periodical gallo appeared in Granada in 1928. It was Federico García Lorca's initiative, and only two issues were published, one in February and another in April. Though ephemeral, a not uncommon fate for literary periodicals of the 1920s, gallo brought together leitmotifs of contemporary literature and the visual arts which advocated a "New Art" for the times.

Salvador Dalí drew the letterhead, while Lorca did the calligraphy for gallo. Other contributing members of the Generation of 27 include poets Jorge Guillén and José Bergamin, writers Francisco Ayala, Melchor Fernández Almagro and Francisco García Lorca, and art critic Sebastià Gasch.

gallo was the voice of a group of young artists from Granada, like Manuel Gómez López and Enrique Banús Arboleya, who would meet with other friends and fellow artists at the tertulia "The Rinconcillo". The periodical also aired the work of two painters of the Paris School, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz and Ismael G. de la Serna.

This exhibition is divided into four sections, which guide the visitor through the intellectual scene of 1920s Granada and provide a view into the periodical's history through letters, manuscripts, photographs, and documents drawn from public and private collections.
