ALBERTO JIMÉNEZ FRAUD (1883-1964) Y LA RESIDENCIA DE ESTUDIANTES (1910-1936)

This exhibition chronicled the history of the Residencia de Estudiantes and its director, Alberto Jiménez Fraud. The traveling exhibition was first shown at the Villanueva Pavilion of the Royal Botanic Garden, Madrid, in 1983-1984.  It had five sections: the first dealt with the Residencia's relationship with other institutions such as the Museo Pedagógico, the Institución Libre de Enseñanza and the Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas. The second displayed the Residencia's publications. A third one focused on prominent international visitors: intellectuals, artists and scientists such as Einstein, Bergson, Keynes and Marie Curie. The fourth section dealt with famous Spanish residents and visitors such as Dalí, García Lorca, Alberti, Ortega y Gasset, Juan Ramón Jiménez and the varied cultural events organized at the Residencia. The last section was dedicated to Alberto Jiménez Fraud and his work as director of the institution.
