The exhibition in remembrance of the 50th anniversary of Rafael Altamira's death aimed to rescue from oblivion the life of an intellectual whose modern tenets of education are still relevant.

The exhibition displayed documents provided by the Residencia de Estudiantes, the Francisco Giner de los Ríos Fundation, the Altamira's family, and the Instituto de Bachillerato Jorge Juan, in Alicante. The exhibition was divided into five sections: his career as professor at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza; his work in the Oviedo Extensión Universitaria and his tenure as law professor at Oviedo University; his relationship with Latin America and his period as professor of civil and political institutions of America, at the University of Madrid; his work as founding member and judge of the International Tribunal, in The Hague, and finally his ideas about education.
