The exhibition, organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of publisher and poet Manuel Altolaguirre's birth, displayed books of his poetry and a wide selection of his works as a publisher. It also included copies of periodicals he founded and some of those for which he wrote articles; manuscripts of his poems, lectures and projects, numerous photographs, personal documents and letters, and testimonies from friends and colleagues, who where among the most prominent intellectuals and creators of the time. The exhibition also included art works chosen by artistic adviser, Juan Manuel Bonet: paintings by José Moreno Villa, Juan Gris, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Benjamín Palencia, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, Gregorio Prieto, Ramón Gaya, Rene Portocarrero, Wifredo Lam, Mario Carreño, Carlos Enríquez, María Izquierdo, and Manuel Rodríguez Lozano.
The documents, many exhibited for the first time, came from the poet's personal archives kept in the Residencia de Estudiantes, as well as from other institutional and private archives in Spain and abroad. The section dedicated to Altolaguirre film's activities included, in addition to a variety of documents, photographs and original scripts, the projection of Subida al Cielo, directed by Luis Buñuel, produced and written by Altolaguirre.
