José Moreno Villa was a painter, poet, essayist, art critic, and historian. The Ministry of Culture through the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC), the Junta de Andalucía, the Centro Cultural Generación del 27 and the Residencia de Estudiantes organized this exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death. It is a tribute to the versatile career of this artist whose opus was quite unique. It focused on Moreno Villa's work between 1925, the year of his first series of "wire drawings" and 1937. The Malaga-born artist produced in 1927 what he called "ideografías" a collection of drawings combined with a line of poetry as the graphic representation of his ideas.

Thanks to this exhibition, José Moreno Villa returns to two vital places, Malaga and the Residencia de Estudiantes, where he lived the most intense period of his life.
