The exhibition, part of the commemorative events marking the 100th anniversary of María Zambrano's birth, provided a comprehensive biography of this philosopher. It looked into key aspects of her life, education, participation in the Misiones Pedagógicas, the exile years and her return to Spain. Moreover, it highlighted her literary and philosophical publications and her ties to music and painting.
It explored Zambrano's fruitful relationship with writers, artists and intellectuals of her generation, such as Octavio Paz, León Felipe, Jorge Guillén, Luis Cernuda, Ramón Gómez de la Serna, Rosa Chacel, André Malraux, Alfonso Reyes, Cintio Vitier and Ramón Gaya, among others, as well as her relationship with older writers such as Miguel de Unamuno and Antonio Machado; and with her teachers, José Ortega y Gasset and Xavier Zubiri.
The exhibition displayed material from the María Zambrano Foundation, in Vélez-Malaga, and the Residencia de Estudiantes. There were also documents and works of art from private collections and from public and private institutions, such as the Ortega y Gasset, the Eugenio Granell and the Federico García Lorca Foundations. The narrative structure followed a chronological order. The correspondence, manuscripts, first editions, periodicals and personal items were shown in display cases. The paintings, pertaining to the various stages of her life and career, included works by Maruja Mallo, Luis Fernández, Luis Bagaría, Juan Soriano, Ramón Gaya, José Moreno Villa, and others.
