The focus of this exhibition was an unfinished joint project by Salvador Dalí and Federico García Lorca, between 1925 and 1926, to publish an album with Dalí's drawings called "rotten" with a preliminary essay that the poet never wrote. The exhibition brought together nearly all those drawings, most of them never exhibited or published before, and put them in their historical context. The preeminent role of the Residencia de Estudiantes as the hub of the literary and artistic avant-garde in the 1920s was highlighted in the exhibition. Other original works by Dalí and his fellow artists, and documents related to his cultural milieu were also on display. The items came from 10 institutions, including the Federico García Lorca Fundation, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, the Juan March Foundation and the Residencia de Estudiantes, and from 19 private collections. More than 5,000 people visited the exhibition, which received tremendous amounts of media attention.
