This exhibition coincided with painter Larry Rivers' visit to the Residencia de Estudiantes to participate in the Barbara Probst Solomon and Larry Rivers film series. The Galería Malborough (Madrid) provided the latest works by this artist, a member of the New York School and one of the pioneers of Pop Art. Painted in 1992 and entitled Art and the Artist, this series of large canvases mixed painting techniques, relief sculptures, and drawings, and showed Rivers' reinterpretation of styles and key artists in the evolution of modern art, such as Picasso, Matisse, Delacroix and Balthus.
