This exhibition, the first one dedicated to this poet to date, was part of the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Emilio Prados' birth. The institutions organizing the events aimed to bring to the public a comprehensive portrait of this complex artist, who was never sufficiently appreciated by the experts. The objective was to resuscitate the outstanding legacy of one of most prominent intellectuals of the first half of the 20th century in Spain.
The exhibition included more than 400 items from 90 public and private archives, mostly from Mexico and Spain, and from Prados' papers bequeathed to the Residencia de Estudiantes by his heirs. There was a selection from his photo archives, musical compositions with his poems, and a large correspondence with family and friends, such as Manuel Altolaguirre, Gerardo Diego, José Moreno Villa, Max Aub and María Zambrano. There were also personal items like his typewriter, diaries, official documents, immigration records, certificates, identification cards. The artwork included paintings, drawings and engravings by prestigious national and international artists of the time, plus a selection of photographs by prominent photographers of the Spanish Civil War, such as Robert Capa and Kati Horna.
