POETURAS, FRANCISCO PINO

The exhibition included a selection of Francisco Pino's (Valladolid, 1910-2002) graphic poetry. He was an artist who wrote all genres of poetry, from traditional song to avant-garde visual poems called poeturas, which he pioneered in Spain in the late 1960s, when there was neither precedent nor followers. The title of the exhibition came from the name that Pino gave to his most experimental and ephemeral poetry. The exhibition brought together 37 poems written between 1949 and 1997. It also included photographic and typographical poems, posters and mosaics, a collection of stamps-poems, first editions of his experimental books and his self-publications, and more recent commercial editions. Francisco Pino was at the forefront of experimental poetry, along with Joan Brossa and José Luis Castillejo.
