In 1923, Einstein visited Barcelona, Madrid and Zaragoza, where he gave a series of lectures on relativity (space theory, general theory and recent research) and on the philosophical implications of his theories. He delivered them at the Diputació and the Academy of Sciences in Barcelona; the Faculty of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences, the Ateneo and the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid; and the Faculty of Medicine in Zaragoza.
 
This exhibition, part of the events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the theory of relativity and the introduction of the concept of the photon by Albert Einstein, disclosed the details of the scientist's visit to Spain. It displayed documents from the Residencia de Estudiantes, the Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales, the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, the Fundación Ortega y Gasset, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the Colección Artística de ABC, the Archivo General de la Administración, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and other public and private collections. It contained documents, books and newspapers with a selection of photographs and original artwork. It opened with a section on the main chapters of Einstein's intellectual biography, with special attention to the theory of relativity; a second section dealt with his stay in Spain, emphasizing the significance of his visit to the Residencia de Estudiantes in the context of Spanish science of the time.
