This exhibition, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Francisco Bores' birth, focused on a little known period of the painter. During the 1920s, Bores had the opportunity to befriend the protagonists of Madrid cultural life -most of them linked to the Residencia de Estudiantes- who had a strong influence on him. The exhibition explored this "madrilène" period and his contact with the members of the ultraist movement who regularly met at the Pombo and Gijón cafes, while consolidating his friendship with writers and artists like José Ortega y Gasset, Gerardo Diego, Guillermo de Torre, Gabriel García Maroto, Federico García Lorca, Salvador Dalí, Alberto Sánchez, Benjamín Palencia, and Ismael González de la Serna.
The exhibition's main objectives were the exploration of Bores' relationship with avant-garde artists and the reconstruction of their milieu. Most of the works came from the archives of the painter's heirs and had never been shown before, such as original drawings, prints and personal documents. The Residencia de Estudiantes and the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno also contributed material.
