The Residencia de Estudiantes organized this exhibition to mark the first anniversary of Jesús Bal y Gay's death and the donation of his personal library and archives to this institution. It focused on Bal y Gay's life and work and displayed his compositions and those dedicated to him by prominent musicians, such as lgor Stravinsky and members of the Grupo de los Ocho like Gustavo Pittaluga and Rodolfo Halffter, with whom Bal y Gay had a deep, personal relationship. Some his articles in the periodicals Nos, Ronsel, and Residencia were also on display, including his essay on Frédéric Chopin and his compilations of the Cancionero Gallego, the Cancionero de Upsala and Romances y Villancicos españoles del siglo XVI. There were also samples of his correspondence with Alberto Jiménez Fraud, J. B. Trend, Manuel de Falla, and Eduardo Martínez Torner, and photographs.
