The exhibition was organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Francisco García Lorca's birth. It followed his life, from his birth in Fuentevaqueros to his death in Madrid, with a special emphasis on geography and art. It aimed at bringing the public closer to a person who until then had remained in the shadow. It showed his relevance as literary critic and poet -although his poetry was published posthumously- analyzed his relationship with prominent intellectuals and artists, and his links with the Residencia de Estudiantes. Francisco's path can not be separated from his brother's, his presence and his tragedy. Any information about Francisco adds on to what we know about Federico, not only because he wrote about his brother's life and work, but also because they shared a common world.
The exhibition presented Francisco's life and work in a chronological structure through original documents, such as letters, invitations, books, journals, photographs and manuscripts lent by the García Lorca de los Ríos family and the Federico García Lorca Fundation. The show also included a large selection of Francisco's own art collection, with works by artists who were his friends. Many of these paintings were exhibited for the first time. The exhibition also included a series of biographical panels, a selection of his poems printed on the wall by silk screening process, and numerous enlarged photographs.
