The exhibition followed the personal and creative growth of Juan Chabás (Valencia 1900-1954), a unique writer who explored many genres: poetry, essay, art criticism, historiography and theater. This exhibition aimed at recovering an unjustly forgotten member of the Generation of 27, an artist who played an important role as novelist, and poet ad critic. It was divided into three sections: "En la vanguardia artística", "Un intelectual republicano" and "Los periplos del destierro". It recreated the cultural climate of the Vanguard during the 1920s, the Second Republic and the Civil War, and examined Chabás' vast, significant literary production during this period. It then followed his life and intellectual work in exile, in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and especially the period immediately before his early death in Cuba.
The original documents, many unpublished, included first editions, periodicals, personal documents, photographs, drawings, and paintings. His work is an example of the literary and cultural process in Spain during the first half of the 20th century.
